Light Wood Floors – Yay or Nay to This Trend

Share

Light wood floors: love them or loathe them? These are a trend that I think is here to stay. From blonde to honey to whitewashed to light grey, I love the light wood floor trend.

Read on to learn why I love light wood floors so much, some of their beautiful benefits, and why I think dark hardwood is on the way out.

Dark hardwood floors (and also dark laminate and vinyl floors) have ruled for years. They provide high contrast, they’re sleek, they’re sophisticated, and they give a totally classic look.

They can also make a space look smaller, be more high-maintenance, and darken a space.

When it comes to 2020 interior design trends, dark wood floors are on the way out and light wood floors are seeing a resurgence.

Light wood floors are fresh, modern, and beautiful. They pair well with the light, bright, airy, and spacious feeling that many homeowners are going for today. They make a room look larger, just as light-coloured walls do.

Light wood floors have a more natural and organic look, which helps to explain why they’re so on-trend right now. The Scandinavian interior design look that’s so popular today – minimalist, natural, chic – is a clear match for light wood floors.

Light floors are incredibly versatile, too, and can pair nicely with all kinds of different interior design styles. As a bonus, they’re easier to clean and maintain as they don’t show dirt, dust, and scuff marks as much as darker floors do.

A home’s flooring is the foundation of its interior design, and sets the tone for the rest of the home. Flooring is not the kind of thing you want to switch out often, and light floors are a great choice because they’ll stand the test of time.

Light wood floors offer a timeless look, and are a trend that’s here to stay!

Summing It All Up: Why Light Wood Floors Are Here to Stay

#1: They Brighten a Room

Light wood floors reflect natural light, helping to give a space a bright, airy, and spacious feeling.

#2: They Make Spaces Look Larger

Just like light-coloured walls, light floors open up a room and make it feel more spacious.

#3: They’re Very Versatile

Not into the minimalist, natural Scandinavian look? Light floors match all kinds of design styles.

#4: They’re Easier to Clean & Maintain

Bonus! Light wood floors don’t show dirt, dust, and scuff marks the way darker floors do.
