If you’re a fellow entrepreneur, you’ve likely at least briefly considered hiring a business coach. There seem to be more and more of them these days, and if you’re like me, you see the ads popping up on Instagram!
But is it time? And is it worth it?
From personal experience, I can tell you that hiring a business coach can be a very helpful and rewarding experience. If you’re looking to take your business to the next level, having an expert outsider’s point of view can give you much-needed clarity and perspective. Whether you’re looking to launch a new business, scale and grow your existing business, or navigate some turbulent waters in the entrepreneurial world, a business coach can give you the tools, advice and guidance to weather the storm and level up.
Having a business coach in your corner can be a great way to:
- Get through challenges and identify the steps you need to take to launch, grow, scale, or accomplish whatever goal you’re trying to tackle
- Be held accountable and helped with follow-through
- Be supported with expert advice and feedback
Does any of this ring true? If so, I say GO FOR IT – get yourself a business coach!
- You feel lost or overwhelmed – a business coach can help you wrangle control again with smart time management strategies, organization tips, delegation advice and more
- You’re struggling with accountability and follow-through – a business coach can support you with motivating strategies, and just having an accountability partner can help to propel your success and push you to meet those important deadlines (we all know that self-imposed deadlines and deadlines for personal projects are the hardest to hit – having a business coach makes them feel more concrete and important, just like client deadlines!)
- You need a trusted confidant – you crave a safe sounding board and mentor who will give you honest feedback and advice, but don’t have someone in your life like this that’s a good fit
- There are specific topics or areas of expertise that you’d like to learn more about – a business coach can help you close any knowledge gaps, and this is also a good place to note that business coaches come in all shapes and sizes, and that you’ll want to find one that’s suited to the area(s) where you want support
- You’re not hitting your goals or achieving the growth you want – a business coach can help you figure out the steps you need to take to get where you want to go, and can also help you grow beyond your self-imposed limits and preconceived notions about success
If you decide you’re ready to hire a business coach, the next step is actually finding one. I’ve found my coaches through referrals and my network, but you can also look online for a coach who has experience in the area you’re looking for. Read reviews, ask for testimonials, and talk to past clients. Most coaches will also offer a free introductory call to see if you’re a good fit before you make a big financial commitment.
